Need to stay connected? 4 things to do before heading out for the campground

admin on Sep-1-2009

Before heading to the campground with 5th wheel campers, it’s essential to check up on 4 different things to keep in touch with proper communication while your away at a campground

- Will there be internet?

Many campgrounds now provide wifi. Depending on their location and connection, the speed may be fantastic or it may be deathly slow.

The campground website should be able to tell you if wireless internet will be available. If there is no website, chances are there is no wireless internet (or just call ahead)

- If no internet, consider a cell phone internet connection

Internet connections that work over a cell phone tower are now at the point where they’re very feasible technically and financialy.

You can purchase either a “internet only” connection or tether a smartphone such as a blackberry or iphone to your computer.

Before tethering, always check to see what your data charges will be – if not set up properly, it can potentially lead to a very large bill.

Cell phone internet works at a fairly decent speed, and for checking email, weather, and news is a very viable option.

- What radio stations are around?

Take a list of available AM and FM, as well if you have a shortwave radio a schedule of programs and their specific frequencies.

Knowing that a signal is potentially there will help you look for it, even if it starts out as very faint. Adjusting for this signal will mean that you may have to move antennas etc, however knowing that there is something on a specific frequency will help you find it, and help you save time trying to clear a signal that for a channel you wouldn’t want to hear!

- What local TV stations are there?

If you’re planning to watch TV, you’ll need a digital receiver.

The more valuable information here, however is listing the websites of local TV stations. Here you’ll get the most accurate weather, local news, and upcoming events.

This way you’ll be able to stay in touch – with both storm warnings and festival updates!

5th Wheel Campers are a great way to travel, and live the campground life full time. With these tips, hopefully you’ll be able to make it even more full time!

4 Ways to Leverage Additional Savings with 5th Wheel Campers

admin on Aug-29-2009

When out on the road, here’s some ways to leverage additional savings in your entire lifestyle.

- Detour to outlet stores

Outlet stores are fantastic to do an annual shopping run.

I know a number of people that stop by a factory outlet area when on the way to a campground. They often stop here once or twice a year, and can purchase all the designer and quality clothing they’ll use at one time.

Having 5th wheel campers to haul the items with is also an added bonus!

- Visit farm markets

On your return to the city, detour to farm markets where you can pick up fresh, local produce and food.

The fridge in your 5th wheel can be used to store it until you get home, and if you buy in bulk can be frozen through the year.

Farm market quality is usually better quality than what you can find in city supermarkets, and if properly frozen can last throughout the year

- Catch up with old friends

Facebook and social networking has allowed us to catch up with old friends.

When travelling, look up to see who you know along the way – having a cup of coffee or a meal is a way to break up the trip, and keep up a face to face relationship with people you haven’t seen in a long time

- Store it in a nearby “getaway” location

If you’re looking to invest, look into buying a small parcel of land near the city you live in. 5th wheel campers are great, as when you’re not travelling, you can park them on this land and have a quick getaway location for weekends

5th Wheel Campers

This is a question that has been debated long since the first RV was even created!

The best answer is: It depends on what your personal tastes are and what you’re going to be using it for.

Motorhomes have the beneit of being a fully self-contained unit.

This helps have atmosphere of truly “having your house on your back.” If you need to, you can quickly pull over and camp with little preperatoin.

There is also very roomy seating for all passengers when driving. Nobody is squished into the back of a pickup truck for a 10 hour drive across the country. The large windows make for a picturesque view.

Motorhomes give you all the conveniences of home. Showering, dining, sleeping can all be up to the same quality as you’d experience in a regular house.

As motorhomes are considered “homes” there is (in some locations) the benefit to get a loan that’s considered a mortgage.

If it’s been a long day on the road, sometimes the last thing you want to do is set up a trailer. Motorhomes can be put into park and then lived out of without going outside

5th Wheel Campers
have the benefit of never having to tow a car along. When you arrive, you can simply detach your tow vehicle and drive to wherever you please.

5th wheel campers are also known for giving a very smooth ride. The hinge in the middle of the system provides for excellent cornering abilities, and on the highway it is a very manageable drive, with very little trailer sway.

Since you can detach the tow vehicle, you can leave your camper in a recreational spot all year, and commute with your tow vehicle (or other vehicles). This saves gas, as well as lets you have a semi-permanent vacation spot.

There is no duplication of engines and transmission either – with 5th wheel campers, you can keep your tow vehicle for work around town. Your tow vehicle doesn’t have to be only dedicated to driving your camper! If anything, it can be a work or play truck.

Showering, dining, sleeping – it can all be up to the same quality as you’d experience at home. Both fifth wheel campers and motorhomes are known to be the highest standard of mobile living possible (no wonder celebrities like spending so much time in them!)
